Ok want to make a few extra pirates for my forces, and was looking at mixing and matching plastic bits.

I have in mind..

Warlords plastic ECW sprues, ECW command sprues.
Wargames Factory Spanish succession plastics.

My next question, would some of the empire arms, heads and bodies, and weapons work? mixed in…

I don't want to spend hours with greenstuff… but want to bulk out some extra pirates for my 28mm game.

I have a lot of metal. I am going for a few weirds?

I would think the main problem is that, with the exception of captains, pirates mostly went barefoot and wore 'shorts'.

However, it depends on how you define 'pirates'; you could probably create reasonably accurate late 17th century buccaneers, many of whom were ex-soldiers and dressed as such.
