Hi all, We played the Channel Dash, Operation Cerebus at the DWG yesterday, combining a simple map game and table top action using ShipBase III computer rules.
Sadly the Swordfish didn't get any action but the Germans didn't have things all their own way. If you would like to know more, then just follow the link to the DWG blog. link Jonathan |

An excellent, edge of the seat battle Jonathan. I too have often thought of doing the Channel Dash, but the rules I use – the Fletcher Pratt system – wouldn't really work for it. You have shown me how the experts would do this though, I think I need to look a bit more into the software you used to pull this off. Definitely food for thought for a Sunday afternoon. |

This is excellent. Most helpful. Been on my mind for ages to do, with a mix of rulesets, map moves, miniatures, naval and air. What boardgame set you off? I've just ordered a 3 pack of ziplock games from "Against the odds" and I was eligible for a free mini-game so I chose "Operation Cerberus". |

Have you ever seen this? Really interesting: link |

Good question Dave, I was wondering about that boardgame myself. :O) |

Cheers guys. I went for the Cerebus game as it had a simple way of modelling damage in that you were constrained as Germans to only being able to move one area instead of two. The micro management of specific damage was more than managed by the ShipBase software and so the game moved along quite quickly without being bogged down. Yes thanks Dave, I did find that site in my homework on the action as I was quite keen to model the weather conditions on the software as the visibility is managed based on the time of day, sea state and wind. |

That's very interesting. Thinking about doing something along those lines. I really like your use of black and white photographs as I think it adds to the atmosphere and your report. |

Jonathan, I found an email for your club starting with dwg_comittee; if I send you a message to that address would you get it? I notice it says that site has been replaced by the blog and the date 8-12-2009 is in the bottom right corner. I would like to find out a little more about the software you used for this game, such as did you scan the board of Operation Cerberus into Cyberboard, software I'd never heard off before yesterday. |

I'm not having much success with that email address Mr Steve. My messages are bouncing back immediately I hit the send button. I've tried a few derivatives of it, but with as little success as when I use the original. I wonder could some of you guys email me at: davidcrawford19@hotmail.com Thanks. |
