I hope some of you who play the Fletcher Pratt Naval Wargame rules will be able to offer some advice. I've just managed to get my hands on a model of the Russian WW2 light cruiser Kirov. Her main armament was nine 7.1 inch guns, a calibre not allowed for in the rules. So how do I add this calibre? Would I just place it between the 6.1 and 7.5 inch guns – say a rating of 715 damage and 40 range? And this doesn't really help with the armour penetration chart, I have no idea how that chart was devised. On a slightly more general question, the version of the rules I use are in this book: link , is there any real point in purchasing this book: link ? I hope you'll be able to help me as I'm planning a little disagreement between the KM and Red Navy in the Baltic in the not-too-distant-future. |

Iīm afraid I havenīt played Fletcher Pratt since many years ago when my knees were young enough to play on the floor, but here is a link to some stats for the gun: link Unfortunately it doesnīt give penetration numbers, but if you compare it with guns you have, you should be able to fudge the numbers pretty well. |

I don't have it, but recommend it. John Curry has done original research into the game and found information on how it was played in the 30s and 40s that clarify the game for modern players. It also has optional rules that were purportedly adopted by Pratt himself. For more info: link |

I would prepare my ship card defense values using the 7" calibre gun, but then remake the card using the 7.5" for range and damage purposes. This is based on the fact that they relined the 8" barrel to reduce it in size for the 7.1" shells, but it retained a high muzzle velocity (but far shorter liner life). link I have Featherstone's book and tho a good start for playing Fletcher Pratt, I would recommend getting the Curry version for the extra info, especially if you plan on playing this system alot. Here is a site to help you make your shipcards link |
