What manufacturers mix well?

Galloping major products have special units available in sets of 18 figures, but Conquest minis has a wide selection of Indian warriors. Would these two mix well on the table? Conquest ships overseas and seems to have pretty steep prices for their sets, might have to pay VAT as well. Cheaper options are welcome.

I need at least a couple of units of miniatures per side, so at least 36 minis per side for Sharp Practice rules. I'd like a mix of special units and regulars for my first games.

If I get THW Long Rifle rules, I'll need some frontiersmen for player characters, some wildlife I guess and Indian warriors.

Then there's the issue of terrain. I'll need trees and maybe fortifications/village houses for variety. Where to find these in 28 mm?

Lastly, some painting guides for special units and regular infantry. Anything that is available.

I guess I'm going to have to get some tree kits to make up those forests of North America. I've processed some lichen for undergrowth and hedge building.

What sorts of bases would be cheap to use for setting up undergrowth + tree combinations? I was thinking of using cardboard (very cheap) for basing.

One more thing, how do Front Rank miniatures mix with Galloping Major/Conquest minis?

If they're "incompatible" how much difference are we talking about? Galloping Major has Ranger units that seem to be good, but Conquest has Colonial Rangers as well. Are these the same unit?

Conquest also has Warlord unit packs available, so they have a more complete range of minis. The only drawback is the shipping from the US, and possible additional VAT costs. I'm looking at over 200$ of figures and shipping in one go from them :O

Sharp Practice rules allow for smaller groups of figures to be used in a unit, which is good, and they have the option to line up in formations if I have more of the same unit. 30 figures per side looks pretty realistic. I could use a Ranger or Indian squad of 8-10 or so, and combine them with regular infantry for a combined force.

One more: AW miniatures. How do they compare with Galloping and Redoubt?
