Nice figures ! Wasn't it during those years (1861-1865) that the infantry said "Whoever saw a dead cavalryman ?" (;-))) |

Those look like dead infantrymen to me |

The unarmed dead Reb could do for a dead cavalryman, but everyone else is clearly infantry. I use dead horses for disordered markers for cavalry. If you looked hard enough you could find a few dead cavalrymen. They just didn't die in piles like the infantry. |

A quick update for anyone who missed my other post about this range. I made a mistake with the scale on these and they are actually 15mm figures.

By the way, I have found a use for all those surplus and broken horses that see to grow in my lead pile. Doesn't everyone have a dozen or so of horses with missing legs or tails or that have been snapped off of their bases? Get a coarse metal file and grind them down on one side by a quarter or third. Paint up with some gory detail. Use them to decorate places where cavalry or officers have died. I use a modified Rally 'round the Flag rules and use infantry dead to mark where a stand was taken off the table. It really adds realistic decoration and a record of the progress of a battle. It adds a nice touch to the battlefield, as well as using wounded/animal figures/ammo chests to indicate casulties, rout status or ammo status, rather than 20 yard wide (to scale) poker disks or strange 2 ton gemstones. |
