Dear List If you've got the stones, read "Demonic Males: Apes and the Origins of Human Violence". Written in 1997 by Richard Wrangham and Dale Peterson examining the evolutionary factors leading to human male violence. But women get no free ride here either and shown as eager and willing accomplices. The answer- At heart we are nasty murdering, brutal animals. Unlike the Rousseaan idea of the gentleness and virtue of "natural man" Wrangham and Peterson show human males to be exactly like chimpanzees when they reach puberty.
