"In 1998, a man named John Stacks formed a company, Johnny Resin, that sold model kits to a niche audience. His specialty was a line of sculpts bearing the likenesses of actors from 1966¡äs Batman television series: Adam West, Burt Ward, and an assortment of villains, all in costume. This was a dubious enterprise. Though Stacks had the permission of the actors, he did not have permission from Warner Bros. or DC Entertainment, which own the characters, or from Fox, which held distribution rights to the show. Predictably, DC unleashed its battalion of attorneys. The matter was settled when Stacks apologized and claimed it cost more to license Adam West¡¯s likeness than he earned selling it. Stacks didn¡¯t mind, though. His struggle with DC launched a mission that would help clear the way for a more highly prized bit of Bat-ephemera: full, commercial-free, non-bootlegged DVD and Blu-ray collections of the entire 1960s Batman series¡ªsomething held up for years by rights disputes between the show¡¯s many parents… Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

I grew up watching this campy series in syndication. I must've watched each episode several times since there were only two seasons. Ironically the 'good' acting didn't come from Adam West and Burt Ward but villains such as Caesar Romero and Burgess Meredith. Bam! KaPow! Zowie! Holy _______, Batman!!! |

Still the best Batman, by far. Loved the TV series, and the first movie they did, back in the day, with Batman, Robin, and Batgirl battling so many bad guys and gals. Worth watching the latter, when they re-run it. |

I'll never forget Batman trying to dispose of the bomb on the busy pier. |

My favorite Batman TV moment: Bad guy's female flunky, whom Batman had tried to convert to the path of the Righteousness (and failed), meets her death by falling into a bubbling vat of some kind of nasty liquid. Batman comments: "Poor, diluted girl!" Classic! |

Or, the shark! The freakin' shark. Loved the original catwoman too. Still the best, though some of the others are decent as well. |

I don't know about it being the best Batman, I reserve that for the animated series with Kevin Conroy as Batman's voice. As for the acting of the villains, well think about it. Burgess Meredith was a big name, he's been in movies with the likes of John Wayne and Kirk Douglas. Of course the others like Frank Gorshin was also a comedian and did a pretty good Kirk Douglas impersonation. In many ways the show does owe it's success to the actors that played the villains more than the primary cast. |
