If you could have a figure produced in 15mm for the AWI what would it be? I'm assuming that it is not already made ny someone. |

But this isn't a question about 28mm AWI. |

Scott is right. Ask me about 28mm. |

so John.. if this question were about 28mm, what would your answer be :-) |

I will not hijack the OP's thread. Start one for 28 mm and I will chime in. |
GROSSMAN | 05 Nov 2014 9:29 a.m. PST |
I vote the Blue Moon , but they are more like 18mm, great sculpts paint up nicely. That is if you are not going with 28mm-the true scale for AWI. |

I would opt for a personality figure of the duc de Lauzun. He sounds like an interesting fellow. In 'The First Total War: Napoleon's Europe and the Birth of Modern Warfare', author David A. Bell writes that as well as being one of France's most famous soldiers of the age Lauzun also found time to "gain a reputation as an outrageous rake – something that, I cannot stress enough, takes considerable effort for eighteenth-century French aristocrats." |

I painted some 15mm AWI for a fellow gamer years ago, I recall the figures were some Essex and Old Glory. The Old Glory were better: militia: link Washington: link Cornwallis: link Benjamin Martin: link |

I'm in the midst of painting a large quantity of Blue Moon AWI figures. I agree that these are fine figures, but there's always room for improvement. I really appreciate variety in the ranks, so here's my wish list: * More than 3 variants in poses for infantry packs – a few have 6, but most are just 3. * Mixing different types of muskets into the same unit – presently, the Continentals in regimental coats all have Brown Bess-type muskets, while all of those in hunting shirts have Charleville-type muskets. * Continentals in leather caps wearing both hunting shirts and coats * Ragged Continentals w/o hats and/or shoes * Casualty figures (there are none at present) |

What Grossman said, 25/28mm is the best figure scale for AWI. |

Nonsense. 25mm/28mm are skirmish figures… 15/18 mm the largest sizes for units. I wonder what is in 6mm?
Or even 3mm? (Well, know those are not sculpted yet, I know.) I await the response of the 54mm adherents. Psych! TBH, just use whatever seems best in your eyes. For me it is not 20mm or larger but use what makes you happy. |

Perhaps more Spanish troops. Only Freikorps have any that I'm aware of. Most of the AWI is quite well represented amongst the existing ranges: Musket Miniatures and Peter Pig, the recently revived Polly Oliver, the extensive Blue Moon with Irregular and (I think) Matchlock in that larger size. Essex has many figures though perhaps one of the more limited ranges and midrange in size. Not to forget Freikorps – a great source for many of the mounted units (search throughout the Seven Years War! not perfect matches but quite workable). An area I'd like to see added is some of the personality figures of the era – Paul Revere, Ben Franklin, British ministers (and French) and the royals of both nations, members of the various congresses or committees – or maybe all of the signers of the declaration of independence. More civilian figures of a mundane stripe – especially the colored folk. And perhaps some nice vignette settings. |

@ D Williams – Lancashire Games and Essex in the UK both do "ragged Continentals"; the former range are one of their better efforts and less 20mm than most of their stuff. |
