Here's a list of the Russian nuke bomber sorties, by date and region, in case you want to do a little aerial wargaming with jet fighters and bombers:

AirWar C21 released a bomber supplement in the last few years, which would be useful for gaming.

Sadly, 1/600th and 1/300th scale Cold War, Russian bomber miniatures are a bit rare, but perhaps someone will read this and take concrete steps to address the situation.

You can also drop down to 1/1200th scale, but the cost of aircraft in this scale are a bit high, relative to those of other scales, in my opinion. Still, minis selection for Russian bombers is better, and it's a good option for lots of wide-ranging maneuvering on the tabletop, too.

GHQ also produces some in 1/2400th scale, as well, which are quite nice, and reasonably priced.

I'd recommend avoiding the 1/3000th scale aircraft, since in my opinion cardboard counters look better, and are more accurately "sculpted". They are significantly cheaper too, and you can easily produce your own from line drawings found on-line, if needed, and/or you are on a tight budget.

Hi Mako,

The current Russian strategic bombers are available in 1/600. The Tu95, Tu22M and Tu160 are all available through Shapeways. Many of the older types are also made by Tumbling Dice and several Shapeways designers.

Hi Allen, thanks for the tip, bit I prefer metal minis to the Shapeways aircraft.

I am aware of the TD minis, and have some of them.

Just wish they, or OO would produce the Bear, Backfire, Blackjack, etc., along with some US Cold War interceptors to oppose them, e.g. F-101, F-106, F-22, etc.

Agree that Shapeways has some problems but I am OK with mine. I don't do much with aircraft beyond 1970 and am quite happy to have my Shapeways Mi4 Bisons and B47s. The TD model of the B47 seems poorly sculpted from the photos. I use 1/700 B36s Tu95s and B52s from some of the Japanese plastic kits. OO models seem OK to me but they are small compared to my TD stuff. Almost like 1/700. Don't own any models of the Badger. Going to have to look for some of those.
