So the Russo-Turkish War project here in istanbul has taken fire with two more players noting interest in joining us. One will make another Ottoman Army (the folk popularity of Plevna is astounding, especially the status of the Peabody and Winchester, people are more apt to have heard of that than of Osman Pasha, let alone Mehmet Ali or Mukhtar Pasha).

But the other is interested in diversity and looking into Romanians or Serbians.

Now from what I know, there is no dedicated 10mm line for these two forces in that period.

But some things are easy to proxy at 10mm

Romanian Regular Infantry-> 1866-1870 Wuttenmburgers, 1864 Danes in greatcoats, even 1877 Russians.

Romanian regular calvary -> 1866-1870 Prussian Hussars.

Romanian Chaussers-> 19th century Italian Bersaglieri

Serbian Regular infantry and cavalry -> WW1 Serbs

But other things are harder

Romanian Reserve infantry (Drobornjari)

What do you think of the proxy suggestions ?

What are possible other options especially for the Drobonjari?

With Respect

You've got me on that one, none of the Pendraken stuff that I have seen comes even close. Without the kit you might get away with a dismounted hussar but it wouldn't be very close.

Hmm, I wonder if bearsking greandiers in greatcoats could work.

Thinking along the same lines, how about WW1 Russians in greatcoat and fur hat (Pendraken RP6). Not illustrated but I have some and the hat is smaller but the rest of the figure looks closer than I'd think a Nap grenadier might be.

hmmm, that is a good suggestion

Pandours ?

I think my 6mm Dorobanti were originally Sikhs from Heroics & Ros colonial range. Don't know if this would work so well in 10mm (if such are available). Hopefully GildasFacit has solved your problem.

Great to hear that RTW is catching on in Istanbul. I look forward to your battle reports.

Hmm Shipka, that is a interesting suggestion as well. Greatcoat Pnadours would work
