Now you can have your own "Geoffrey Saville mini to form a Pulp Alley Park Avenue Hunt Club team. The PAHC stories were written by Judson P. Philips and were featured in many issues of the pulp magazine Detective Fiction Weekly . The Club consisted of big game hunter John Jericho, actor Geoffrey Saville and the intellectual Arthur Hallam with occasional assists from their Oriental servant, Wu. They had sources all over New York and were aided by the police hierarchy despite being officially wanted for murder and other crimes. When the police couldn't help, or were in on the crime, The Hunt Club was the group to call. |

>>And thanks for the extra background, Shadow.<< You're welcome. :-) When I saw the photo of the mini I instantly thought of that cover as it's one of my favorites. Detective Fiction Weekly magazine isn't as widely known as some others, like Black Mask, Dime Detective and Weird Tales, but it's a favorite with pulp era detective fiction readers as some of the best authors, including Raymond Chandler, were among it's published writers. |

That's a great cover. I love the juxtaposition of the Tommy gun and the top hat and tails, the clock face showing 3 minutes till midnight (because you know it's not noon), the raised hand indicating, "We're just gonna sit here and wait." Definitely makes you want to pick up the pulp and read the story – which was the whole purpose of the cover art. |

JP Good analysis! It *is* an intriguing cover. I wish that I could tell you what the plot to the story is, but i've never owned this particular issue. I have only one issue of Detective Fiction Weekly with a Park Avenue Hunt Club story in it, and unfortunately it isn't this one. It would be great if Adventure House collected their stories in a series of soft cover books as they did with the "Suicide Squad" yarns from "Ace G-Man Stories". |
