Let me join in and say fantastic and then add (hopefully) a small crticism. The lace of the Guard, eg the Chasseurs a Cheval, was in aurore. A hard colour to pin down but Vallejo 805 "German Orange" is as near as you can get…pink and orange…works for Dragoons, Grenadiers, Ch a Cheval, Foot rank stripes etc etc. Fades in museums to beige, as red is bleached out. But those wonderful Chasseurs, the shabraque lace edging is far too yellow. Now, I find your work inspiring and have saved many of your images to try to copy and imitate. Just once though, you did get it wrong……. OK, my head's over the parapet, esp as not in your league, but I'll risk the sniper. They could not hit a barn door from this distan……… |

Deadhead i have no problem with advice/constructive criticism and always welcome it. advice on paints is very welcomed, i am always on the look out for what might be the best paint or blend to use. Good luck with your figures..:) |

If anyone is new to this site, it is massive, far more than just the Chasseurs, Cuirassiers and Red lancers that this link leads straight to. You'll find every minor German state, Dutch Belgians, Prussians etc. Again the painting,shading/highlighting technique is very nicely shown. For example, the overall trousers of the Red Lancers. I saved these pics some time ago to show just how such cloth hangs and folds. Inspiring but also very instructive. Great photography too………. You'll not agree with everything eg black sheepskin for cuirassiers, lances may be overlong, or some subtlety in the lace, but what skill! I find this site invaluable. An incredible resource |
