"UN report suggests decline of al-Qaida has yielded an explosion of jihadist enthusiasm for its even mightier successor organisations, chiefly Isis The United Nations has warned that foreign jihadists are swarming into the twin conflicts in Iraq and Syria on "an unprecedented scale" and from countries that had not previously contributed combatants to global terrorism. A report by the UN security council, obtained by the Guardian, finds that 15,000 people have travelled to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside the Islamic State (Isis) and similar extremist groups. They come from more than 80 countries, the report states, "including a tail of countries that have not previously faced challenges relating to al-Qaida". The UN said it was uncertain whether al-Qaida would benefit from the surge. Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaida who booted Isis out of his organisation, "appears to be maneuvering for relevance", the report says…"

Again, no real surprise … the with ISIS being the #1 terrorist group getting all the headlines, AQ's AZH doesn't what to miss out on a piece of action. And much of the region is like the Wild, Wild, West. With many of the local gov'ts and security forces showing once again their inability to effectively lead, defend, etc. … And as far as I'm concerned anyone who has fought along side ISIS, AQ, et al and returns back to their home country, there is plenty of room at Gitmo … 3 hots and cot in the beautiful Carribean weather … they might enjoy it ! |

Sadly, America is not getting credit where it is due, since we've contributed to the cause as well. Even young teenage girls are attempting to go there, but were stopped enroute, which worries me even more, since apparently they were not jailed, but were returned to their parents' supervision. Yes, you guessed it, to the same parents they stole thousands of dollars from, and bought international plane tickets with, for a one-way trip to Turkey. They should either let them go, and ban their return, or jail them as jihadi sympathizers. |

Agree. You can read about many cases of those poor voluntaire teen girls who ended raped and "rapted" by ISIS. I always think: Where were their parents? Amicalement Armand |
