Asian? Alchemy? Astrology? Made up?

Thanks,

I can't get anything to come up.

Hammer and Horsehoe over lit candles?

Sargonarhes30 Oct 2014 5:50 p.m. PST

Dang. have not seen that movie in a long time.
Now I have to watch it.

Hollywood Prop department's better moment. The morning discussion over coffee was "which way was up" before the director said "cut".

Lion in the Stars30 Oct 2014 7:44 p.m. PST

T superimposed over a sideways C/horseshoe up end down/omega (san serif)?

Might be ancient Chinese, it's not modern. That means it's not Japanese or Korean, either.

I'm more inclined towards "random junk found in the Prop Department that looks good," though.

Coelacanth193830 Oct 2014 8:42 p.m. PST

It might be Hindu.

Crazyivanov30 Oct 2014 9:01 p.m. PST

Don't have the faintest idea, but it does have that bronze age/oriental look that Milleus' Conan is just saturated with. Probably look good on an elephant cloth or an Indian banner.

Ah, it was just some prop man from Minnesota that was a Twins fan and altered their logo.

Dan Wideman II30 Oct 2014 11:31 p.m. PST

It looks like a slightly altered Sanskrit.

Crom…

Yuno Hu31 Oct 2014 7:25 a.m. PST

It looks like an inverted astrological glyph for the planet Neptune

Yup – I think it's just 'made up stuff'

Looks like an upside down Greek psi symbol with a cross top added.

Lol

The concept artist was Ron Cobb (Star Wars, Alien, Back to the Future). It's more than likely an original symbol.

Cacique Caribe01 Nov 2014 9:54 p.m. PST

Does it look like the same symbol as on the king's helmet in the tomb?

This guy seems to think so. Check out his comment at 7:52 in this clip:

I don't really see a clear "hammer" component on the helmet though. The closest thing to a T is seen here, at 2:52, which shows the helmet from behind:
