(SPOILER ALERT!) "Fury is a damn good movie—and the best war movie in years. But it took a lot of hard work by a lot of people to bring writer-director David Ayer's screenplay to life. A screenplay that's … well, less than great. In the film industry, a lot can change between script and screen. Writing is a solitary act, the author bent over a keyboard for months and sometimes years. But filmmaking is collaborative. I would say it is a Damn OK movie myself. That original mumbo jumbo – I can see it getting excised in a rewrite. I know I have read of something similar but can't remember any of the details. We do like to bemoan studio execs when they "meddle" with films but it is for the best just as much as for the worst. |
