For your Saga Warlords, do you go with the oversized base? Is there really a point to it over than to clearly donate who's in charge?

I did it on my Saxon Warlord, but not sure I like the look.

I go with the oversized bases, but I usually put a musician, standard bearer or something else to help identify the warlord (and fill up the space).

It makes the warlord more distinctive and easy to spot. I like the way it looks, and you have room to add a musician/standardbearer/bodyguard/dog if you want.

For mounted warlords I use the same size base as other mounted troops.

Gamewise I suppose it makes it easier to be within range of the warlord for We Obey and Resiliance.

I use a one and a half inch base for my Warlords. As stated above it allows for room to express yourself. A discarded shield, a banner man, a horse, a captive or a trusted adviser. And you can spot the Warlord from across the table.

For my Dark Ages SAGA army, I use 25mm round bases, and a 30mm round base for my warlord.

For my Crusader SAGA army that is in progress, I am using 20mm square bases (to ease re-use with other game systems) and a 30mm round base for my warlord, and it will have a secondary figure on it also, either a shield man or a standard bearer, I have not decided yet.

I've played a lot of SAGA Dark Ages, and I think the bigger base helps identify him on the table.

I have 45mm round sabot bases with two cutouts for 20mm square bases (or one for a 20x40 base for mounted warlords)
Then I put whatever figure I want on there as a warlord; in the case of warlords on foot, I put a standard bearer on as well.
That way you get the benefit of a bigger base for easy ID, but you can still use the figures on their normal bases.

I use a 2" diameter circular base.

Your SAGA warlord needs to be on a bigger base. It is standard practice, and you will justly mocked if you fail to do so.

I also usually go for a larger base. If the Noble is on foot I add 2 others. A standard bearer and musician is normal…for mounted I add a mounted standard bearer

I usualy put my commanders on hex bases as opposed to round for the 'minions'
