I am sorry if this has been asked before (I am even sorrier if *I* asked this before,) but I have been unable to find any topics pertaining to my question (yes, I looked around for quite a while!)

How do the plastic Hoplites from Wargames Factory, Warlord, and Victrix scale up against each other? Is one of them a head shorter or taller than the others?

Thank you.

I have to say that I have wondered too. Additionally, are all of these companies portraying classical hoplites or hellenistic or ?

I've seen other companies too such as Agema, Gorgon, and Immortal (?). I assume they are plastic hoplites but may no longer be in production.

I can't help you with the size comparison, but the Immortal metal hoplites are very nice, though a little fiddly to assemble.

Mr Google – "Wargames Factory Hoplites Comparison" gave me some useful hits.

Also my 'mate' Satrap has a useful shot on his blog – scroll down after the Athenians:

Immortal plastic hoplites are a head shorter than the other two. Victrix and WGF are comparable in size – WGF paint up quite well.

I am going to form a composite phalanx from my left overs – this will include Immortal and Victrix and I will be interested to see how they 'look'.

Thanks, Mithridates. That was exactly what I needed. I was giving Uncle Google and Dear Editor a different set of search terms.

Victrix scales better to Wargames Factory, and also has the advantage of being a complete DBA army in a box with its 48 figures.

Did someone say DBA in 28mm? – Let the Revolution begin!!!

@Socalwarhammer: I did DBA and HotT in True 25mm and 15mm back in the early 90s, I went exclusively 15mm when I moved to Vegas almost 20 years ago. This year, I switched to 28mm for DBA and HotT due to the onset of Adult Onset Farsightedness after a break of probably 5-8 years from anything DBA or HotT related. I am sure I look adorable in my reading glasses trying to figure out details on my 28s these days…

You've probably had all your questions answered but I wouldn't mix Victrix and warlord/immortal together the difference to my eye is to great. I've found the Victrix figures to be nicely done and they paint up easily. The detail on the warlord/immortal is a lot smaller and finer to a degree. Even with that said they are still nice figures. Wargames factory figures look good but I'm abit nerves about spending my money on them untill I've seen them in the flesh so to speak.

The good thing with victrix is the cost element, they seem to be better value, and the parts are all compatible with each other, although the downside is a lot of the parts are the same IE the bodies are generic in the Spartan box and the Athenians box I have. As for DBA in 28mm I've already started my spartan army and the plastics are well suited cost wise so why not.
Sorry I will call it quits I've droned on for long enough
