On the outskirts of Petschara, 19th July 1941… Elements of the Hungarian 1st Motorised Brigade attempts to secure a road and rail junction from some of the battered remnants of the Soviet 18th Mechanised Corps.

A truly swinging fortunes game of Battlegroup Barbarossa!

A 500 point game that swung on the arrival of a Soviet fighter plane…

Despite being hammered for five turns, including loosing a KV-1 to a 80mm mortar round (needed a double 6 – Got a double 6, must have gone in the hatch!), a Soviet plane arrived and turned the game on its head… From then on the Hungarians, with no dedicated AA, got preoccupied with trying to bring down the aircraft and allowed the Soviets to get back in and bring their numbers to bear…

You make me really want to visit Ireland, Piers.

Lovely stuff, as usual.

Piers:
Outstanding as always. Bravo, sir.
The Gaz truck with the AA or AT gun and the armoured cab is intriguing. Is that your own scratch-built mini or is that a commercially available kit? I don't recall ever seeing that before. Very cool!
Cheers.
Rod Robertson.

Looks more like I would expect for '42, with the long-barreled ATG and all those machine pistols. Otherwise, looks great. Nice terrain!
