Having all sorts of fun at the moment making one of these as I try to glue the tail rotor assembly to the tail plane. Has anyone got any handy tips on how to do this? The shape of the metal part which holds the rotor doesn't seem to match the space on the tail plane, and it won't stay in place for me even with superglue! Also, the pintle which takes the tail rotor blade is longer than the depth of the hole in blade. Should the blade sit flush against the mounting (i.e. do I need to trim the pintle to fit?) or should there be a gap? And one final question. Has anyone successfully used the acetate rotor disks from Hurlbat on the FoW Hueys or Cobras? link |

I went with die cast models, half the price and all ready made, very durable as well. :) |

lasalle – damn and double damn! Which make did you go for and what stands did you use? |

My BF Hueys were some of the first released, so had metal rotars etc. Fourtnately I mostly end up playing the PAVN guys, so I did not get around to work on my Hueys unitil after BF came out with plastic rotars sets. The good news is that you can order the plastic rotars through special order. I used these and magnets and and found them to be great. Thanks for the info on the Hurlbat rotars! They look awesome and I may consider going to those if the magnets I have now can work with them. There's also a Revel 1:100th Huey plastic kit out there that's an option. Cheers, VB |

I'm going with Hurlbat rotor disks on all mine. |

VB – thanks for the suggestions. I am using the plastic rotors, but having ham fists it ain't working for me! Lion – is this a plan or have you managed to fit them yet? |

Dumb question – do those "Hurlbat" rotors come with a mast? Or would I have to use one of the ones from the BF kit (thus forcing me to choose which to build)? |
Some Chicken | 28 Oct 2014 12:51 p.m. PST |
Scott – as far as I know you would have to supply your own mast, so you would need to choose between Huey and Cobra. |

On second look, the Hurbalt rotors seem like they are for a smaller scale than 1:100. |
Some Chicken | 28 Oct 2014 1:23 p.m. PST |
VB – they are available in a number of scales from 1:600 to 1:100. I'm ordering mine now! |

@Some Chicken: still planning, haven't liberated enough spare cash to order rotors for 10x UH1Ds, 6x UH1Bs, 6x AH1Gs, and a pair of OH6s. (and a few others…) |

I got my copters from Skip at Legends In Time, just opened the box and they were ready to go. Skip made some flight stands for me. So all I needed to do was put a piece of metal tube into the bottow of the helos and done. I have 8 slicks and 4 gunships. For the Little birds I went with the battlefront models. Works great. |

The Hurlbat stuff is in a number of scales and Kris will even do special requests for other rotors not listed. |

Lion – my numbers are about the same as yours, unfortunately all unmade at the moment apart from one UH1-B! I decided to take the plunge though and order rotors for half my helicopter pile to see how it works out. (NB: I realised afterwards you have to order tail rotor disks as well, although they are pretty cheap). I will report back when I have tried (or failed)to fit them to the FoW Hueys. |

@Some Chicken: Cool, please do. I'm … severely underfunded, in terms of gaming items at the moment, though I may need to rebuild my rotor masts. Not sure about the strength of the metal ones from the oldest BF Hueys. |
