I call BS! M60A3???.. Where the hell is A: The TTS?… B: The Wind Sensor?…. C: WHy does it still have the Xenon Searchlight on it. One of the reasons they got rid of the Xenon was the TTS….unless you are trying to sell me that it's still one of the "A3 Rise Passive IR POS's)"….. D: No side rail on the turret sides…. E: Wrong paint job…. F: Where are the radio antennas?… What the heck is that TC standing on to be so high up?… unless he's sitting in the suicide seat…. Now….If you want a model of an M60A1 with a thermal shroud…well this is your baby right here….

that might well be me getting the designation wrong then? |
Murphy | 27 Oct 2014 6:49 p.m. PST |
ToS…There are serious flaws with this designation. This is more M60A1 than M60A3…sorry man…. |
Murphy | 27 Oct 2014 6:51 p.m. PST |
Um…also the TC hatch doesn't stay in that position. That would break the TC's back if it came loose… |
Troop of Shewe | 28 Oct 2014 2:27 a.m. PST |
no worries, will redo the hatch positioning and lower and the TC. In my defence it did come pre-assembled, but yes I did mess up on the designation, damn pesky modern tanks -lol- |

Howinthehell do you do that caked mud on the tracks? Rhetorical question, even if you explained, I wouldn't be able to do it :) I wanted some of these a few years back, now, I'll try to generate a little revenue and maybe pick up a couple. I have a few good uses for them. Chalfant |

@Chalfant – what you need is to mix up some "glup", either plaster and PVA (elmers) or grout and some very fine sand, or alternatively there are proprietary pre-mixes available ( just watch the granule size, usually these are for 1/35). I apply this at the primer stage as it gives the "dirt" something to cling to. Once you have the "substance", you paint the kit as normal then you either paint it via your normal techniques or use some of them new-fangled pigments! I use a multiple layered approach of enamels and pigments, but that's just me, you don't need pigments. @Murphy, really caught a cold on this one, this is the last time someone hands me a completed model and says can you just paint this in MERDC for me…..see what happens -lol- |
shaun from s and s models | 28 Oct 2014 10:19 a.m. PST |
I did not tell neil what it was called, all i asked for was a merdc paint job as it made a nice change in colour from the other models in the ranges that are made and primed. I also stuck the hatch on lower but it came off and was quickly refixed in place. side rails would not mould ok and aerials are not supplied with the kit, and it is not going into a competition only the web shop it will be fine for me and my purposes, so thanks neil for a great job on the tank, what ever we call it. as for the figure he is cut at that height so can be cut down to make him lower, but as neil has explained the kit is not modified as shows what you get as a kit, not what can be done, that is the difference between a display model for a shop window and competition model where every little flaw is found and made right. so when we get the m60 avlb done he can also paint that as well, but I doubt he will want to merdc it again! I hope that clears up the confusion. |

I might try that on a a "beater" model sometime, I'd hate to mess up a good model on the first try…. its a great looking effect. Chalfant |

yay! "modern" cavalry arrived to my rescue, I was feeling a little besieged! Anyway, following the risk assessment recommendations for the TC, I have lowered the hatch and made him sit back down in the tank, as per regulations, should be nice and safe now :o)

Really nice work Neil – the weathering on the tracks looks superb. Out of interest, would this version do for the Iranians? |
