A quick example of the "Domino Theory" campaign option for "No End in Sight".

Our campaign is the pacification of the 2019 Anarchist uprising of Vermont, with the neighbouring countries of Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

A Domino Effect campaign is always about suppressing the spread of a specific ideology, in this case, anarchists.

We give New Hampshire a Susceptibility of 5 and we give Connecticut a Resilience of 5 to show their relative status.

Each "phase" will be just one battle, though if we played in a club, maybe we'd end the phase when one side has had 3 or 4 victories.

Our first mission is a win.

As each phase ends, we roll for Ideology and Order in a random country each and since we won, we get to roll for Order in another country. So, we need to select 3 of them randomly.

Maine and New Hampshire will roll for Order while Connecticut will roll for Ideology.

New Hampshire rolls "Harsh Measures". Government troopers start arresting anyone with anarchist sentiments. This has different effects depending on the status on the country, but since NH is not currently suffering from anarchist sentiments, this means next phase, they'll suffer an Ideology roll (Anarchist sympathizers getting plenty of recruits)

Connecticut is suffering Civil Unrest. Protesters in the streets decrying the man and torching cars. This means the country is subject to disorder.

In Maine we roll "Active Support". They send the national guard to help stabilize another "country", in this case we roll Vermont itself. They get a political realignment.
Policies are passed to crack down on Anarchists, giving it 4 points of Resilience.

End of phase 1
Vermont 4 resilience
Connecticut 5 resilience and protests going on.
New Hampshire 5 susceptibility and is suffering from harsh measures.
Maine is totally fine.

Phase 2.
We run another mission, fighting it out with a mob of anarchist troops. This time, we get licked and lose.

This means things aren't looking so hot.
After each phase, we always get an Order roll in a random country. This turns out to be Massachusetts.
Anarchists have been blowing up walmarts, causing wide spread antipathy. Mass. gets 6 points of Resilience.

We get an Ideology roll each phase, this time affecting Maine. Well known for its anarchist sympathies, more and more outspoken support is occuring, giving them 8 points of Susceptibility.

Because we lost, we suffer a second Ideology roll. This hits Maine as well and we now add their 8 susceptibility points to their roll and get a Breakdown of Order. Street fighting, wide protests and bad things all around.

This would end our campaign phase but remember, in New Hampshire the storm troopers had been kicking down doors. They trigger another roll and get an Uprising. We're one step short of a civil war but fighting is happening everywhere.

End of phase 2
Vermont 4 resilience
Connecticut 5 resilience, protests
New Hampshire 5 susceptibility, uprising
Maine 8 susceptibility, breakdown of order
Massachusetts, 6 resilience.

Things are starting to look pretty rough for the forces of order.

it appears that, at least for a wargame, "anarchist" are considered bad boys..while it should be the opposite

In America anarchists are always bogeyman ITALWARS :) non of that For Whom the Bells Toll tosh in modern US sentiment and anyway anarchists' are always a fun enemy to squash in a wargaming environment, not so Nordic? :)
(this coming from a Mod wannabe in the 80s :)
Weasel how about a small run through for "No End in Sight" for us as well – I'm waiting for the more Scifi version with bated breath and you example above on the campaign is well explained.
Cheers and thanks

Very interesting, I've been thinking about how to do something similar for XCOM.

I'm pro-anarchists but I figured I'd pick an example that was silly and goofy :-)

Zargon – LIke going through a couple of turns?

Should add that this is one of a few different campaign models. I'll show another one tomorrow.

Sorry Nordic if I was not clear, I meant on how a game of 'No End in Sight' would run as opposed to the 5 core system runs with the 1's and 6's is it similar or do you have another way of determining results using units instead of individuals? (Of course don't give all the system away but I would like a AAR run through if you got one.
Cheers
