I got some of my Rough Riders done! I have to admit that I was skeptical of the whole concept, but the figures are just so darn cool, I had to have some!
Assembly was a little difficult with the handlebars. I held them in place with some of that tack putty and epoxied them.
And a swarm of them is an impressive sight!
I decided I wanted a command team so I took a motorcycle sidecar from a German WWII motorcycle and glued it to a Roughrider cycle. Then I took a Blue Moon machinegunner and chopped and bent and filed him down until he fit in the sidecar. I also cut off his head and substituted one from an Alien Dungeon figure so he's have the gas mask like the rest.
Confusion to the Martians!
Here they pass by a command post.
I decided to have a specific organization and deployment for the Rough Riders in my army which is given below:
The Rough Riders are organized into battalions. Typically one battalion would be permanently assigned to each infantry division. Each battalion was composed of 4 squadrons. One squadron would be assigned to each infantry regiment in the division. Each squadron was composed of four troops. One troop would be assigned to each of the three infantry battalions in the regiment with one troop retained under the regimental headquarters (it was also common for a troops to be detached for the use of the division headquarters as well). The troops were divided into four platoons. One platoon would be assigned to each infantry company. Each platoon was composed of four, six-man squads. There were also small headquarters sections for each platoon, troop and squadron, as a well as a battalion HQ.
So, the figures you see are just one platoon.
