Gaming Models is producing three very nice 15mm coast defense gun mounts for use on Tarawa. The Vickers 8 inch guns (NEVER mounted at Singapore, but removed from Japanese armored cruisers armed with British exported ordnance) are very nice. The 4.7 inch guns were a very common caliber and can be used for similar British Emergency Batteries installed in 1940, US Batteries armed with guns bought from England during the Spanish American War and several other national coastal defense system.

The final weapon is a twin 5.5 dual purpose which was originally mounted as secondary batteries on capital ships and cruisers and as the main battery on lesser combatants.

These models will be great for upgrading the defenses of a model beach (ready for assaults by Gaming Models many excellent amphibious tractors, tanks and landing craft)

These will also be good for arming up Victorian ships or VSF airships!

If my gaming group ever gets around to the Pacific war, I'm going to be all over Gaming Models for the 'phibs!

The final model does not look like the 5.5 inch. The twin 5.5 was only in a couple of cruiser classes, the three Katori training cruisers, Nisshin seaplane tender, Okinoshima minelayer, Jungei class submarine tenders and Yubari. The single mount was in many more ships and was used as a coast defense gun. It was not dual purpose.

However the model looks like a nice rendering of the Japanese 5/40 dual purpose AA/surface mount.

I'll second Zoneofcontrol's comment. I've ordered tons of stuff from Craig over the years and always been very pleased with it. His service is excellent, the models look very good on the game table and for the price they can't be beat! The kits are inexpensive enough that I don't feel bad parting them out for to Kitbash VSF vehicles and if something doesn't work out I've only lost about half a lunch at today's prices! Also having met him at Origins last year I can say he is a fine gent indeed!

I got examples of each of these in the mail yesterday. In the interest of full disclosure I did get them free as part of a larger order.

I believe that dragon6 is correct. The castings called 5.5 twins are probably better as the more common 5/40 twin.

Either way they are nicely done three part castings, with a round base, the twin guns and the main part of the mounting.

The other two weapons, a 14 cm and an 20 cm guns are both very close to their prototypes. link and link

Both kits come as four parts (gun tube, armored shield and roof, as well as the round base). There is some flash on these (as expected on resin castings, but it cleans up easily. Be careful about gun barrels as the 14 cm especially can be warped a bit and need to be straightened. Otherwise there are no serious issues with these. Detail is good for 15mm, although the boltheads might be a bit on the large size.

Having now seen the actual models I find I am as pleased with them as I was with the original pics on the web page.

I'll also happily state that these things showed up like two days after I paid via Paypal. The packing was very secure and everything arrived safely!
