There is a lot of talk about Allied equipment being used by the Germans I wonder if anyone has any documented examples of panzerfausts falling into and being used by British or American forces? Some had to fall into the hands of Allied infantrymen and I would assume that not all would be turned over to the ordnance folks, I mean they knew how effective they were and they were simple to use. It just seems to me a handy thing to have and the Germans seemed to pass them out to their infantry with great regularity.

The best example is the 82nd Airborne, who made a point of collecting as many Panzerfausts as they could find. They were collected into a central divisional supply, and then would be allocated to those units expected to be fighting tanks.

I believe the Russians made extensive use of them, since they didn't make anything of that sort themselves.

Yes, the Russians gathered many, many Panzerfausts, and tended to reserve them for the Engineer-Sapper battalions and other troops leading the assaults on fortified positions.

I thought that I had read it somewhere but then again it's been a long time since I read Gavin's book. Thanks all…
