This is probably my last query for a while for this new project so I can stop pestering you all :)

For this Austrian Naps project I have selected Victrix and Perry's Plastics to run alongside Perry's metal. Perry's appear to have a very comprehensive Austrian range including those weird looking Wurst guns . There is one type of troop missing I note which is the Uhlan or lancer ( to me).

So which other range that make lancers is most suitable for my mix.

I have some Portuguese Nap figures by Front Rank but they appear to be much too big .

Foundry are perhaps a little on the small size IIRC .

Which I think unless I have missed some other producer Alban.

Would Alban be suitable ?

Thanks again guys

Far too small……….great castings though

The foundry figures are very nicely done and also designed by the Perry's. They are a bit smaller than the Perry's now but in a seperate unit I don't find this disturbing. Front Rank are a very different style to Perry's (but not that much bigger) but they deliver very clean castings and the figures paint up really well (I use Front rank Austrian heavies alongside Foundry lights for my Austrians and they look good to me)

I know little about "mainland" armies during the Napoleonic wars, being focused on Spain.

But might Perry make Brunswick Lancers for Waterloo that could be painted as Austrian? I recall using 6 Austrian hussars by Willie (30mm) back in the day at Brunswick Hussars in Spain, and they served very well. The uniform was different in the Peninsular War.

I have used the Foundry Uhlans in my own Austrian collection, which is a combination of Sash and Saber, Old Glory, Foundry, some Perry and even some Elite – I never worry too much about the height differences between figure ranges, but will always avoid mixing manufacturers in the same unit.

Having said this, unless you really want to have Uhlans as part of your collection, you might be better served focusing on Chevau Leger or Hussars – these were far more abundant, within the Austro-Hungarian army, than the Uhlan contingent.

There is rumor that the Perry's will be doing the Uhlans soon so you might want to concentrate on getting the rest of your Austrians painted up and myabe by then there will be some "Perry Austrian Uhlans".

Yes I enquired an received a reply from Alan Perry that Austrian Uhlans and Jaegers are on the planned list, so if you paint the rest up they will probably be along by the time you are done.

Thanks guys for your comments and suggestions .

I think I will hold fire if the Perrys are bringing them out as I have plenty of more important things to do such as the line infantry batalions
