Hello, fellow Napoleonic nuts (it's my main area of interest!). I'm writing a series of posts on my blog about the Edward Woodward fronted 1978 telly-wargames show Battleground.

Todays post was about the Waterloo episode:

Battleground, '78 – Waterloo

Prior to that I posted an intro to the show (on monday), and stuff about the Edgehill episode (on tuesday). I'll be posting on the show daily till the weekend, by which time there'll be 6 posts, just as there were 6 episodes of the show, back in '78.

My initial announcement thread on TMP was in the 'historical media' section of the message boards here:

Having come back into the hobby after a 20 year brain-f*rt I find I'm almost as fascinated by the history of the hobby as I am the activities it entails in its own right (reading/research, figure collecting/painting, building terrain, etc.).

I hope you guys might enjoy the series of posts.
Cheers

Seb

Great looking figs in that one.

Yeah! You can tell he loved that era. The figures are just fabulous.

Mind you, so are the ACW ones… and the ECW aren't bad either … and the Ancients… etc.!

I guess the guy was just proper nuts for wargaming, eh!?

Thanks for sharing. I played with some of the buildings, and probably the troops, at the old WHC.

Is this online for viewing somewhere? I didn't spot it on youtube.

Thanks, very enjoyable! I've been able to play with some of the Peter Gilder figures and terrain at the new Wargames Holiday Centre.

I hope I get to play with some of Gilder's figs one day! I can feel a 'vintage' or 'unfashionably shiny' project brewing!
