Hi, These are some "Casting Room Miniatures" figures that appear to be figures that Foundry don't want to sell from their website any more. They are nice sculpts and fun to paint but definitely larger than the older, Perry-made Ancient Persians. More pics and info here: link Hope you like them and thanks for looking. Mick

Excellent unit – bought some of these, including a number of the command sets. These are very handy to flesh out units of 12. Yet to paint the heavies. Garry |

Yes those are very cool! Sorry I've never had access to them. Persian cavalry never really upgraded to spears… mostly retaining the two stout javelins style. There is one reference to Darius equipping some of his cavalry with xyston for Gaugamela, but we dont know which troops-- maybe just the household cavalry… and it was just one battle. I too love the new plastic spears but they do break so fast. Javelins are easier in plastic since there is less to catch. Nice job painting I love the colors.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it! @Jeff – Thanks for the info. I normally give the Persian cavalry a javelin but it seemed inadequate somehow for these figures. |
