"The idea behind the weapon is that it "fires" a beam of temporal energy – which "warps" what it passes through a fraction of a second into the past. While it has little effect on stationary or slowly moving targets, it has dramatic effects on anything that is moving quickly. A charging enemy will suddenly find a circular plug bore straight though their mass – giving them just enough time to see a quivering chunk of themselves a few paces behind them before collapsing. In close combat, the temporal effect can be focused into a continuous "field" around the head of the weapon which produces the same time-warping effect on anything it passes through. The effect of the weapon depends on the speed of its target rather than brute power or the targets armor. Without the powerful influence of a nearby Elder – these weapons become little more than ornate clubs until they are recharged with temporal energies."
