This was my first real outing with 5 Core, and I must say I was impressed and shall be playing this again often!

Did you need to buy Five Men in Normandy to play the game?

Jozis Tin Man21 Oct 2014 5:43 p.m. PST

No, you just need 5 Core and 5 Parsecs from Home. 5 Core is pretty generic, 5 Parsecs adds a LOT of chrome (but you only have to use as much as you want to)

I was a little put off initially by the lack of "stats" for the characters or anything that equates to REP in THW rules, but the skills seem to fit the bill to differentiate troops.

I used a slightly alternative activation scheme, as found in the Heavy Metal supplement and found it enjoyable. Next up, the troops found another mission and another patron in the form of a UNITY administrator… more to follow.

I just bought the bundle. Have you tried using more than 5 figures per side?

Doing another read through of the 5 Parsec before I play a starter game, Blue what's the skinny on No End? I'm waiting for the Sci-fi version, Weasel am I going to have to come over and use my Shillelagh to get them :+) I like what I've read so far in my copy of the skirmishy/RPG style of 5 Parsecs (I'm NO Roll player but this is really cool and easy to use and just begs the roll playing aspect) can see being applied this to a lot of genres, (also hint for a set that does Colonial/Steampunk VSF Mars 1889 type mix but using No End size forces 30 to 60 figs with artillery horse and contraptions.
Weasel lots of questions and wants any ideas if interested in developing these. BTW have started using FAD for mu Rouge Trader old school 40K games any updates for these? (hint unofficial Rouge Trader says the lazy man :)
Anyway glad The Weasel is around to give us some simple original and playable systems that give fun easy gaming with personality.
Cheers all happy gaming, My 5 Parsec games I want to set in a Riddick kind of world.

Working on scifi NEIS ;) Right now, waiting on playtesters to roll dice.
More FAD stuff? It could happen but it won't happen soon I am afraid.

To the OP – glad you enjoyed it and love love love the comic book styles.

And yes, not having stats throws people for a loop, along with how cover works. Once you realize how things work (skills instead of stats), it usually clicks but it's one of the two things people comment on almost immediately.

You are correct, cover also threw me a bit, but once I put down figures and started rolling dice, it made sense and felt like I got good results.

Nnascati- I used the alternate activation system from the heavy metal supplement, handles more than 5 no problem. On a 2-5 you activate that number of figures instead of just 2. There are some leadership rules on there as well.
