Looks like the Baltics are heating up, with recent Russian air sorties and incursions there getting a bit of attention:

Adding the Su-24s violating Swedish airspace a while back should be considered as well.

On the link, Canadian F-18s are in the mix, in case you are looking for more variety to the usual suspects flying sorties.

1/300th, and 1/600th scale minis are both recommended for these.

Doesn't it stink when your wargames come true!

Not really heating up. They've been hot for a while with Russians pretending to bomb Sweden a few times and Sweden in some intances not being able to launch fighters to intercept.

It's only reported now due to problems in Ukraine. But the Russians have been getting aggressive there for a few years.

Bare in mind there's also been other "unpeaceful" developments that have contributed to tension as well such as deployment of advanced SS-26 Iskander TBMs (Tactical Ballistic Missiles) to Kaliningrad enclave last year.

The whole Russia-NATO thing has been heating up for at least 6-7 years (since at least South Ossetian War in 2008).

As Thomas says, it's only being reported now because of Ukraine. The RAF has been deployed on Baltic air policing duties due to Russian incursions since the mid-2000s.
