any one know of some source for cheap plastic mechs? I seem to recall some years ago the Big Lots store chain had some bags for $3.00 USD that had some plastic Star Trek ships that were large knock offs of the Micro Machines ships along with some Battletech Mechs that had heads put onto them so that there was not any chance some company could say the mechs were knock offs plus you received a volcano in the bag also. I would love to find those again for there was a fair number of mechs and I really liked the Mad Cats that were in there. |

EM-4 still has the Steel Warriors mechs. They aren't the greatest but they are cheap. |

What scale are you after? If it's battletech (6-7mm) then EM4 is your best bet. The Technolog ranges vary from around 6mm to 28mm depending on the range and can be found on ebay oftentimes. If you want 10mm, Mechwarriors clix arent avaialble as cheaply and easily as they once were, but bulk lots can still be found if you ask around or at conventions. For 6 or 10mm, CAV was a great option. It's going to be a bit of a wait, but it will be out next year. Lastly, have you looked at the Battletech starterbox? It's got 26 mechs and seems to be priced at around $40 USD many places. That's less than $2 USD a mech, and the molds have been redone so the basic mechs are significantly better cast that the last starterbox. Just make sure you buy the one that has "Mad Cat and Battlemaster" as the premium pair and not the last version box that has two clan mechs as the premiums. |

And, unfortuantely you missed the Reaper CAV Kickstarter by a couple weeks, but if you can wait, they will be avialalbe for sale, next year: The CAV kickstarter is actually still open to new backers through Reaper's pledge manger, although you'll pay more for things (presumably closer to retail). link |

"If you want 10mm, Mechwarriors clix arent avaialble as cheaply and easily as they once were, but bulk lots can still be found if you ask around or at conventions." Depending on where Green Beanie is in the world, this might not be true: link |

Those prices aren't bad, and definitely cheaper than most other minis. Still, they're random, and not cheap bulk deals and the mechs-for a buck, infantry for a quarter kind of prices that you used to be able to get at Troll and Toad where you could put together a big unified army for very little $. "missed the Reaper CAV Kickstarter by a couple weeks, but if you can wait, they will be avialalbe for sale, next year" Hopefully that Kraken will be part of it- That looked very useful. :) Will also vote for EM4 plastics – highly customizable too. |
