He's still with us. I remember meeting him back when I worked at NYU. He's a warm, friendly man with a great smile, none of that superior professor stuff. And he shot down a ME 262 jet.

i met him and Lee Archer with 3 or 4 others when they came to talk.

all of them were great guys, that would earn your respect.

we need many more like them.

what was great is that i was just a kid, a white kid and they were fighter pilots two generations my senior and yet when we talked were were just pilots talking. i would love the chance to talk to them again and was honored to shake each of their hands

I had the opportunity to speak with and shake the hands of several Red Tails at numerous WW2 reenactments. The last time I saw them, one of the gentlemen told me about strafing a German destroyer and having it blow up; I was thrilled when I saw the movie "Red Tails" and actually got to see that particular incident put on film!
