Just posted way too many pics showing how I managed -- somewhat dysfunctionally -- to frame and base a pair of foam terrain boards to serve as the Logar River for the 1879 Second Afghan War battle of Charasiab. Watch the boards go from this…
…to this…
…with some barely-contained chaos in between. This is the first of two posts that will get the boards to their present state, as shown here:
Here's the link, if interested thanks for checking it out: link NOTE: I am getting close to being done with the single 6'x2' Kabul River board. Once It's textured and painted I will FINALLY get to pour some clear resin for both rivers -- doing it all at once will make it easier for me to rearrange them into one 10' long waterway -- and maybe even finish this project! |

I think it is looking great. Looking forward to see how they look once the clear resin is poured. Matthew |

very impressive, like the idea of protecting the edges. |

I really enjoy looking at your terrain builds. I'd like to do the same some day. I also like your green walls in your games room. I am planning on painting mine the same when I'm finished building it. |

Thanks very much guys! @45thdiv: I'm looking forward to beiing able to pour the resin too! @Troop of Shewe: Yes, protecting the edges is definitely a good idea -- just be sure to use 3/4" or at least 1/2" thick wood for the frames! @D A THB: That is not actually my "games room" -- though I wish it was! It is my home office, which over the past couple of years has by osmosis become my defacto terrain building shop & occassional games room! Thanks for the compliment and I love the green color on the walls also, but… after playing a game or two in there when the room was first finished, I realized it would have been very useful if I'd painted the walls SKY BLUE, so they'd look more appropriate in the background of all the game photos taken there! Just something to consider. |

I didn't even notice the color of the walls. I was too focused on the terrain boards. :) Matthew |

@45thdiv: Thanks again, Matthew! @The Terrain Tutor: high praise indeed! I've been a BIG FAN of yours since you started posting links to your Youtube videos here on TMP, Mel, so I really appreciate your kind words! BTW: great job on that hill set for the Greek War of Independence battle of Peta which you recently completed for Shipka! Looking at it reminded me of the hills I built for Charasiab. There is something nice about a bunch of major terrain pieces which all match each other stylistically. |
