Hi All,

Newbie here – ive developed a taste for 19 century in 28mm and have a bunch of cavalry, artillery and infantry for for the Italian wars of independance.

Problem is – I dont know where to start.

Can anyone suggest good online presence for a general intro to the uniforms so I can get going on painting?

Ive got Sardinians.

any start is a good start!

Sure mate

The 1859 Grand Tactical Rules have some unifrom pictures in.

If you google "Italian Uniforms 1859" you will get some results.

Also look at the forums of miniatures companies, as sometimes information is there.

I would guess you will eventually get around to fielding some Austrians. If so, I'd highly recommend the two Osprey volumes published in 1999 by Darko Pavlovic. These offer a very comprehensive look atr infantry and cavalry uniforms, but unfortunately leave out artillery

THanks all – yes I have the Austrians also ready to paint – i just figured I would ask one question at a time!
