I have been reading The Generals : American Military Command from World War II to Today by Thomas Ricks. It covers the the careers of many generals since George Marshall to present day and how they performed in their foremost command. Lots of attention to how generals get relieved from duty. Positive comments about how Marshall and Eisenhower but much negativity for MacArthur and Korean War to present commanders.

I know very little about Korea, Vietnam, Gulf and Iraqi wars at the high command level. Has anyone read this book who knows about these conflicts? How correct is Ricks in his assessment of the generals in those wars.
