…Slow-Mo Scene. "X-Men: Days of Future Past is a thrill from beginning to end, but the true crowd-pleaser—the setpiece that had audiences leaving the theater saying "that scene, though!"—was Quicksilver's slow-motion run through the kitchen at the Pentagon. Ostensibly, the scene is meant to show how his speed lets Quicksilver (Evan Peters) break Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) out of a maximum-security facility. But really it was about delivering the coolest, funniest slow-motion shot ever. He makes dudes punch themselves! He tastes food! He saves his friends from flying bullets! He listens to "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce! It is, in a word, awesome. In the above video, from the bonus features on the Blu-ray/DVD out tomorrow, we learn how the filmmakers made that scene happen. (Hint: It involved giving Peters bologna face.)" That was probably one of the greatest scenes ever filmed. |
