….To get the men outfitted quickly the uniforms issued to this Militia were of the 1880 pattern last worn at Fort Mackinaw. When first publicly seen, the Michigan Militia became known (rather disparagingly) as "The Mothball Militia"…..

Those do look pretty sharp.

I change my mind about the tanks being all blue.

As a long-time admirer of the Iron Brigade, I think this is a very clever idea and a great background story. I wish I had thought of something like this before painting my AQMF infantry, which was only a couple days ago!

Excellent work and back story! Well done!

Johnny reb and Martians both got the bayonet! Go Iron Brigade, give em what for!

Oh wait no bayonets on those lads, in the pic?! Need some cold steel for those iron boys….

Great story and paintjob

Great idea!

I'm thinking of finding some Spanish American War era troops, in fatigues and hats, to use as militia.

Man these looked great!
And the backstory only made them better. I love the way the men managed to 'outfit' their unit with armor by taking it upon themselves to repair damaged tanks.

I got dibs on the 7th Wisconsin!
