So I watched it. I do not know a lick of Dankse but I can say that the cinematography and at least the body language of the actors was top notch. The kid actors were really really good especially the one with the book. When he almost cries when they try to take it away it broke my heart. This is definetly a series worth seeing. Again I do not know a word of danish, so I have no idea what the scenario is worth, but it did keep glued never the less. |

Danish 1864… I'm thinking this is not a ACW show. |

Only part I did not like was the portrayal of Bismarck and William I. I highly doubt William I would had given an audience to his ambassador while shaving, and while Bishmarck was a known hypochondriac, his constant clicking of heels was a bit weird. Nope Ironwolf, other war of 1864 :p |

Thanks for the headsup. I enjoyed the first episode. At the moment, subtitles are only in Danish. |

BBC 4 will be showing it this Autumn and thus English sub-titles are assured. I am looking forward to this. A quick view seems to confirm that there is a discrete cadre of Danish actors. 'Oh look, there's that nice Prime Minister.' 'Isn't that the major of Copenhagen?.' Didn't he edit a TV news show?' 'Do not trust him, he shot Sarah Lund.' etc. etc. |

What could be better…? A Scandi drama AND about a war – perfect. I can't hear most dialogue on tv these days; a combination of mumbling and whispering and my hearing deteriorating so Scandi programmes with sub-titles are my favourite drama watch. And if it's got lots of the actors from previous series, that's fine by me – some attractive women there…! Doug |

Doug em4 – then perhaps if you stop mumbling and whispering you'll be able to hear the TV :). |

Episodes 3 and 4 are up as well. I will look at them tonight. Is anybody else following it? What do they think? |

Episode 3 which includes the declaration of war dr.dk/tv/se/1864/1864-3-8 and Episode 4 which includes the first stages dr.dk/tv/se/1864/1864-4-8#! are up. No Austrians :( and some time condensation I do not like, but beyond that both were very good with some good scenes. |

A lot of really good scenes, well filmed. This is how to do a period war movie. |

Episode 6 is up. The Danes commit a pretty harsh act of war. More creepy Odin dude stuff. The Prussians commit pretty harsh acts of war. N ext episode is the assault I believe. dr.dk/tv/se/1864/1864-6-8#! |
