I am looking for a set of sci fi samurai rules for 28mm. I would like something of a samurai feel and not 40k clone. Thanks for any help in this topic. Cheers Hunlion |

What in particular gives a "samurai feel" to you? My first thought was overpowered heroes, an emphasis on melee, largely ineffective shooting, and some magic. 40K in a nutshell. |

Thanks punkrabitt for the quick reply… an emphasis on melee … a big Yes. largely ineffective shooting…. No … I would like my ashigaru to shot straight and often. some magic….. no thanks that fantasy for me. Hunlion |

Infinity? Good, detailed and popular set of sci fi rules. Not sure they're samurai but a bunch of the figs have that feel. Rabbit |

Check out "Fistfull of Kung Fu". It's a flexible ruleset covering all manner of "Hong Kong cinema" that should work for your needs. It has melee and ranged and though rules are included for magic, it's completely optional. Despite being "Hong Kong" it should work fine for Japan. It's based on the Song of Blades and Heroes game engine, but it has a bit more crunch in terms of combat effects and a modified version of the reaction mechanic from "Of Gods and Mortals". |

Hi ehpaell. Well I have got my eye on Puppets War miniatures(Bushi figures.) 40k looking like,(sorry punkrabbit :-) Also Warzone as well. I am just trying to find a set of rule that reflect the Puppets War figures and my idea of what futuristic Samurai warfare would be like, Bushi v Bushi. Hunlion |

In The Emperor's Name are free small sci-fi skirmish rules that could work for you; you might want to limit some of the weapons and powers to fit your setting idea. They are "not-40K" but streamlined; In Her Majesty's Name are a commercial VSF version of them. |

@Hunlion thanks!! Those Puppets War figures are awesome! I've been looking for exactly that look! This is precisely what I think of when I think sci-fi samurai. |

Infinity is about to release 3rd edition and there's some noise that mêlée will get some enhancements with it, as it stands your generally better off shooting in 2nd edition. Robert |

Isn't Star Wars sci-fi samurai? The Jedi? Or are you looking for something more Samurai Seven (anime)? |
