Reaper has gone whole hog into the plastic fig genre. While it certainly has made their products more affordable it also concerns me a little.Weapons and other long and straight items can and are be turned into pretzels in the packaging process. So how can one fix this? Dip the pretzelized part into hot till its back in its proper shape then dump it in an ice water bath seems like a good option but I haven't tried it yet, So any other suggestions? Anyhoo salut y'all!

Bruce, the hot water and cold water trick is the best method.

Yup very hot water, fix the bend, cold water then fixes it in place. I've done it on anything from a spear to an 8" long dragon wing.

A modified method I use is to hold the part in the steam jet from a simmering tea kettle, with a pair of pliers, then place it under the stream from the cold water faucet.

I had a squashed oxidation beast. I simply dropped the whole figure into a cup of hot water (from the kettle) and it straightened itself out immediately. I poured in some cold water and that was it.

Buy a Bones figure or two (they are pretty cheap, after all), and try it out. As with any line of figures, some are nicer than others, but I've been happy with mine overall.

I was skeptical of the hot/cold evolution when I got my kickstarter order, but I'm a convert now. You can see them pop right back into shape.

For me, I have been trying the hot/cold on some Reaper Bones demon wings that are off-kilter (not straight left to right.) Tried seven times, each time the wings revert back to the off-kilter (upwards-bend-slightly-higher on the right) from the packaging.

I've done the hot/cold on other things from other mafgrs, and it does work, but does not seem to want to on these demon wings for some reason.

Those will be available for retail sale after the fulfillment has been completed. Last I heard they were still waiting on 2 containers from China to arrive.

I have a Reaper Bones figure that was warped at the ankles so that it's bending backwards at about a 15 degree angle. I have tried the hot water cold water method and the figure always reverts to the warped condition. I have been working with plastic models since the 1960s and have unwarped many a piece in this fashion so I know how to do it. On this piece the method simply doesn't work, it will be straight for awhile but then reverts. I guess that what we take from this is that the method works on some pieces but not all.

I find super-heating in steam sometimes helps those more difficult pieces. I use the jet from a simmering tea kettle.

Of course use pliers or something to hold the figure, to protect your fingers.

Use a hair dryer on hot instead of hot water, hold until it takes the required new shape then chill in cold water.
Works for pose conversions as well as casting fault repairs.

For 90% or more of the models, the hot cold method should work.

I think there have been some sculpts that are not working because of the design.

They had a post about one of the dragons whose legs would not stand the weight of the dragon and it would tilt as the day went.

I got one of the dragons (needed one for a fantasy elf army and the price was good).

They can be reposed with a little work (and some stiff wire), too.
