Tried to email the Flag Dude and the email address came back as undeliverable. Too bad, I wanted some of those nice Afghan NWF native flags he makes.

I saw him at historicon. Seems like he sales at shows.

Rogues113 Oct 2014 9:20 a.m. PST

He will be at Fall-in.

Sadly I live in Texas and can't make East coast cons.

I've sent him 6 e-mail's no answer.
Try the contact from his website.

I haven't tried the phone number, but here it is along with his mailing address. No idea if that's the latest e-mail for him or not:

I'll try to call him next weekend. I assume he has a day job and I don't know his work hours.

Perris070713 Oct 2014 7:37 p.m. PST

Is this deja vu??? Seems like he goes "missing" on a regular basis.

TheKing3014 Oct 2014 4:01 a.m. PST

Let's be realistic – there's no way the guy can support a family making flags for miniatures. I'm sure he has a daytime job.

I normally see him at the conventions. I get what I need from him while I'm there or I place an order with him if he's doesn't have the flags. I've yet to be disappointed by him.

Rick is a pilot for American Eagle.

DontFearDareaper Fezian14 Oct 2014 5:42 a.m. PST

Rick is a pilot for American Eagle.

That being the case, I can see how it could be very hard to get ahold of him as that is very much NOT an 8 to 5 job.

I've tried reaching him at his webpage contact e-mail too. No response.

kallman15 Oct 2014 8:34 a.m. PST

Rick is a pretty busy guy with his day job being a pilot. So it is hard for him to respond regularly. The flag business is very much a side interest for him. Given the quality of his flags and the low cost I suggest to anyone that buys from him to apply this law of economics:

You can pick two of the three options:

Fast
Inexpensive
Good

Rick does not do fast but you get inexpensive and good.

"Seems like he goes "missing" on a regular basis."

how DARE a guy who makes flags for miniature armies not be at your beck and call at all hours, on all days!!!

LOL!

i hope he's ok and still making his cool flags. i like the idea that the dude abides…..

Maverick Models in the UK is a sideline, but Stuart has a fully functional online shopping basket, prompt delivery, and responds to emails (he's even pro-active about communication).

maverick-models.com

I like Rick, have met him at conventions, and wish him well, but I've shifted to Maverick. My expectations are realistic (so spare me the insults about expecting him to be at my beck and call 24/7), but given an option, I'll go with the provider who delivers reliable, consistent service.

wrgmr121 Oct 2014 11:28 p.m. PST

edmuel2000 – how do the Maverick compare to GMB?

Marc the plastics fan22 Oct 2014 5:43 a.m. PST

I love Maverick's flags and service. Different approach to the flag dude (they come flat, not crinkled up) but look aboslutely first class on my troops. Price is brilliant too.

edmuel200023 Oct 2014 5:35 a.m. PST

Hi Wgmr1,

GMB are much more "high end" if that makes sense. They are somewhere between what you get from Perry and Battle Flag, only you get to pick several options (like fabric or paper, with or without sticky backing, and with and without effects).

Like GMB products, you do have to cut them out and mount them and shape them yourself (as opposed to Flag Dude where they come already-mounted on staffs).

Best,
Ed

Thanks Ed!

Maverick will also resize the flags for your own particular needs. Great service from Maverick.

Did any of you "keyboard tough guys" go up to Rick at Fall-In? Let him know of your displeasure? He was there and was as helpful to me as ever…

TheKing3011 Nov 2014 8:21 p.m. PST

Darn – I missed him. I love seeing him there and chatting with him. He's a great guy with a wonderful family.

Bernhard Rauch16 Nov 2014 7:39 a.m. PST

He was at Fall In and I talked to him. He said he planned to get fought up with orders shortly.

I bought a few items from him at Fall In, chatted about AWI flags, and talked about ordering items he did not have with him. He volunteered that having recently retired, there was a lot of what sounded like deferred maintenance to do about the house, something I suspect many of us can relate to. I also inferred that orders might take a bit longer although he did say that starting this past Monday he was going going to work on printing flags.

Tankrider23 Mar 2015 4:19 p.m. PST

Definitely still in business!

Sent an email on Wednesday, got a reply the same night, ordered my flags, received them on Monday the next week.

Good stuff!
