The post from Abu Dhabi reminded me that I was going to ask the question on people's views a year on from Longstreet's release, just to see how they have found it over time. Generally on TMP there's an explosion of interest (or otherwise) around new rules and then they fade quietly into the overall background noise with the occasional question from someone who's decided to try them later. So if you purchased or played, how has it been – like, disliked? Played as much as you expected? Tried once and discarded? All those usual questions. Have you used the Campaign section? Do only play one off games? What, if any, changes have you made to the rules? For my part, we now play them regularly as we eventually got around to doing the Full Campaign (just about to start 1863) and so obviously continue to enjoy them. A few things have appeared: We think 5 – 7 stands is the optimum unit size, particularly in Campaign battles, where the flexibility of a couple of extra units on the table more than outweighs less larger units (8 – 10 stands). Which has had a slightly peculiar effect after Campaign Battles. Where it's an advantage to top up damaged units, rather than be given whole new ones under the attrition section. It could be that this reflects the worth of smaller experienced units but it does mean if your next opponent has been hammered in their previous encounter and had 8 – 9 stand units added up to his force limit, he could well loose again to the superior manoeuvre options the smaller units give. Our only ‘House Rules' have been around "Difficult Terrain" where we have introduced Volley Fire of up to 3" on the grounds that non skirmish level shooting actually happened in woods and in standing crops, all be it at close range. Also we really couldn't live with the only penalty for moving in such conditions being an extra Action Card used up, which 9 times out of 10 is no penalty at all for the moving side, so we now require half movement while crossing the bad stuff. Final thought would be that overall the Campaign element makes the rules – they are simple, fun to play and keep you on your toes but I do wonder as to longevity if you don't go the Campaign route. |

Still playing it and play it as its written. Love it, but then I adore all of Sam's rules. I'd play Maurice till the cows come home. |

I have the rules but have not had a chance to play them yet. Too many other things taking my time. Matthew |

I'm really looking forward to playing the campaign games here in Abu Dhabi. We have played a few of the scenario games and we enjoyed playing the rules with 10mm figures. Hunlion |

I played it a couple of times and it's not for me I have large ACW Armies but due to Longstreet's premise, where you have to come up the ranks from a small brigade on up, most of my armies just sit there. I prefer the larger "strategic" games "Johnny Reb" and "Fire and Fury" are old standbys |

2 of our group are playing , 1 still painting . we're about to fight the last battle of 63 . the Union is finally had a victory in the middle battle of 63 but i'm so far behind on epic points that it's unlikely i can win the campaign . very much still having fun with it , even when the Rebs humbug me with with a well timed card to spoil a charge or some other dirty trick :) |

It's something I'd still like to have a go at, but lots of other things have intervened in the past year. |

Still playing and still enjoying playing, despite my main opponent sadly passing away last December. Selfishly he went before we finished our first campaign. |

We played several games and half the Campaign, but no longer play it. |

Still playing individual games and have one more game left to complete our first complete campaign. Using the rules as written. We like it, the cards add into the battles 'uncertainness' and represents battle fatigue nicely as fight continues and your deck runs low your troops do less! |

I love it. Our last game was a few months ago when we completed the grand campaign. I think I came in second in Epic Points. The campaign sequence is the most fun, and I hope to interest someone in playing when I move to the East Coast this month. |

Still playing. in 30 odd years it is one of the most intriguing and thought provoking games I have ever played. The campaign is a stroke of genius it adds so much too your games with so little effort. |
