I saw a post on TMP showing a NWF frontier battle report with some marvelously painted Afghan figures. I was intrigued by the Afghan Highland Guard and the Afghan Guard Cavalry figures. I was able to nab some Afghan highlanders after some persistent posting on Bartertown, but the guard cavalry figures just didn't seem to be out there. Finally I decided to try my hand at making my own converting some Foundry Turcoman figures and I am pretty happy with the finished result:
My first battle with the Afghan highlanders didn't go so well. Hopefully these boys will have better luck on their first outing Dave |

Nicely done! I do have some extra 12 man unit of Wargames Foundry Afghan guard cavalry in helmet I can sell if anyone is interested. |

Nice work! Do you know if the actual units saw much action in the 2nd Afghan War? |

Well, I don't need Afghan Guard cavalry obviously, but if you have any Afghan regular infantry available, I would definitely be interested in that Dave |

Excellent job on your full unit conversion, Dave, and nice paintjob as well! It's nice to see more gamers getting into the Second Afghan War. Btw, Rdfraf above is very dependable -- I bought some of my own Afghans from him. |

A buddy and I are busily raiding his collection of Foundry figures. Rdfraf is great to deal with and I have bought from him multiple times. In fact, I bought a bunch of Afghan regular infantry from him just a few hours ago. I am taking a break from painting up some Franco-Prussian War French I recently bought from him. I thought I asked him about guard cavalry but I must have missed the opportunity to buy his guard cavalry before I made my own. No matter, it was a fun conversion project. |
