Hello My gaming group is researching armies for the Roman Civil war, 2nd Triumvirate. I was wondering how different in composition would an Antony army be vs an Octavian army. They both had a core of regular legions but it is my understanding that Octavian had significant numbers of Gaul cav and Antony had Parthian horse archers ?? Did both have access to elephants and perhaps Greek mercenaries from Greece or Egypt ?? |

IMHO, I would say good old Marc Anthony had a large amount of Greek/ Eyptian forces. They would be of low grade troop types. Octavian would also have the same troop types with him but the Greeks would fight better with him IMHO!You fight better when you think and know that Octavian would be better status wise for there kingdom as client states. I know that the Parthian's supported Brutus and Cassisus during their struggle against the 2nd Triumvirate. But I'm doubtful they would have supported Mark Antony ?? |

Historical facts are more important than misplaced apostrophes. There are grammatical errors made all the time. It' really no big deal, and it's petty to call someone out on such a trifle. Let's stick to the point. I couldn't find mention of specific foreign forces in the battle in my brief search. Surely there were some. |
