Hello All, Just a friendly reminder that Fort Days are this week-end. If you have a chance, it is well worth coming to. There is something to do for the entire family. The fort has an excellent museum with displays for the FIW and nations(Britain, France, Prussia, Austria, Sweden, Russia, Spain, and Turkey) that fought in the SYW. These include uniforms, arms, and equipment. take care, Keith |

If you don't have any plans, the fort is well worth a visit. |

Sounds interesting. I will be driving by there on my way out West to visit family. Might have to stop by early morning. |

I'm going as a participant this year. Be warned – traffic can be big as thousands pour into the town for the event. Battles in the fort at 2 and 4pm. I think the parade (awesome parade) starts at 1100 and goes till 1300. link Aren't there one or two gaming/soldier shops in town now? |

There is one. Traffic is pretty horrendous. The population of the town is normally about 2000, for Ft. Days it can be as much as 100,000 for the weekend. The roads through town are closed off. The fort itself is pretty impressive, but if you are just going for that I would go almost any other weekend. |

Hey Keith:
Sorry we missed the activities: my wife and I were in town Oct 17&18. Just as well: she has no interest in the fort anyway. I dropped her off at Kathy's yarn shop, then spent a couple of hours in the fort, then visited Jaime of Pictors in her studio, and dropped off a few figures for her to paint (not F&I minis this time, but I warned her that I would be sending her a bunch of Woodland Indians in the near future to supplement my Muskets and Tomahawks companies). Also of interest is the Toy Soldier Gallery, which is a nice little shop for wargamers, and Celtic Culture, a wonderful little Irish import shop, where I picked up a truly excellent wool cap. Ligonier is one of the top small towns/villages in the US, and a visit is HIGHLY recommended. Not to mention that the drive along the Lincoln Highway (US 30) in mid-October is spectacular. We live in NW Ohio, and Pennsylvania is becoming our favorite vacation destination. Not to mention that I've purchased figures from Keith, and he gives a great service. I'm so glad we can get Galloping Major in the States. I'll be posting photos of the fort online sometime soon: I'll let you all know when they go up. Mike O'Brien |

Thank you for the kind words Mike. Besides running Loyalhanna Outpost, I also game. We always try to offer the best and fastest service that we can, because I would expect the same. You are right about Pa. in the Fall, it is really spectacular, and Ligonier is a very nice little town with some interesting shops. Check out my Facebook page (Loyalhanna Outpost) for some pictures. take care, Keith |
