I held a game last month pitting the Jacobite rebels against the Hanoverians using my The Sword in the Heather variant on TS&TF rules and have posted an album of pictures and captions on the Great Hall Games (Austin) forum, here, for public viewing: link
The scenario is loosely based on the historical battle of Inverurie -- the geography and objectives and initial placement is about the same, although the specific forces are not, but do reflect typical Jacobite/Royal Army units. These are not organized in any proper sequence; I was lucky to even get this much done, what with fooling with cell phone cameras for the first time (not always successfully) and then having to resize the files. A lot of what I'll call "Highland mist" is apparent. But the cake was tasty! And the bold Jacobites won the day after some brisk fighting when too many Government units suffered disastrous morale failures at key times. These rules have been in use locally for about a year or two -- PDFs available gratis on request, just PM me with your email address. |

Looks like a fun game – I have started using the Black Powder rules for all my SYW battles |

John the OFM uses it as The Sword and The Haggis… Works well for us. Eric |

This is a period I've long wanted to dive into, especially with all the new ranges coming out in 28mm. Have you seen this Culloden game report from Belgium? These boys put on an impressive game! YouTube link |

Looks like fun. I need to finish up my 15mm Jacobites. Thanks, John |

There's never been a better time to explore this period. We have new rules, lots of new figures (I could weep when I see these and compare them to be crude 1980s oddballs or converted ECW Scots I was so often forced to accept), and a plethora of well-researched recent books -- histories, uniform guides, unit organization, even the weather patterns have been covered. I see more pictures of games than ever before and major features in the UK miniatures gaming magazines. People are discovering the spectacle and challenge of this conflict (and are tartans any harder to paint than samurai armor or landesknechts?) |

Twas an exciting affair till our fine British lads began to break from the stress of the pipes. The king has not yet begun to fight! |

'Ware! The MacGregors have vowed on their dirks to not rest until they lift the scalp of German Geordie! |
