Sir Gilbert Hill's renowned Intelligence Section, headed by M Samson Picardy, the famous Belgium detective, was most active recently when three consecutive battles were fought in Herefordshire. One of his agents, equipped with a brand new Nagel Vollenda camera, caught some of the action of the battle at Titley junction:

Sir Gilbert's account of his victory at Longtown is still in preparation. A photographic report from another of M Picardy's agents, present at the action at the road bridge outside Titley, is also expected soon.

These VBCW games I see many of you posting, to me, look like what a Bolt Action or similar game should look like IMHO. A couple of vehicles but not many, a squad or three of troops, some good terrain. I really enjoy these AAR's.

I must emphasise that I'm merely presenting the photos – all the kudos for the quality of the troop and terrain goes to others.

Some real character to this game.Where do you guys play?

The games were played in a village hall in Herefordshire – the players came from all over southern UK (Pembrokeshire, Cardiff, Devon, Wiltshire and many other places, as well as Herefordsire).

I see you're in Herefordshire, steamingdave, so a more detailed response may be appropriate.Burley Gate.

The figures in the second pic, apart from the tank, are mine. Not, I hasten to add 'mine' in the sense that I painted them, just mine in the sense that I bought them! The truck is a converted die cast, the figures nearest it are Musketeer Miniatures from their VBCW and Irish War ranges and the figures in neat lines going off towards the tank are Chinese from Coppleston Castings Back of Beyond range. It is typical of the friendliness of this group of players that they welcomed me even though the Chinese are, on the face of it, completely out of period. The back story is that they are a force drawn from East Asians who happened to be training in England to become missionaries back in their home countries.

I love the obscurity of the setting, in a little place near Kington. I live only a few miles away further up the border. Looks like fun, do they have a Shropshire faction?

Doug em4miniatures08 Oct 2014 2:45 p.m. PST

do they have a Shropshire faction?

The Bishop of Ludlow is in the thick of it so probably. However, maybe you should do one yourself….! You'd be very welcome.

The 2nd Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry are in my Pembrokeshire Campaign. They were (historically) the Pembroke Dock Garrison Battalion in 1938, so have become the core of Royalist forces in my campaign.

I might investigate this. ABCW seems like such a fun game, moreso when you're fighting for somewhere you know.

Yes – it combines the freedom and flexibility of SF and Fantasy but on a solid, real world history.

Best of both worlds.
