I've been having a tough time finding a resource to tell me which company belonged to which regiment belonged to which division. For example, I know that the tanks and armored vehicles used yellow letter-number combinations. The letter is the company. Which company goes with which unit? Any sources you can point me to? |

From Chadwick's "Stars and Stripes Forever" for Command Decision. The heavy armored divisions mixed their tank battalions so that each had one light company and two medium companies. The first battalion in the tank regiment is the light battalion. All three battalions are three companies each. So, after the Battalions are mixed you get 1st battalion with companies A, D and G, 2nd Battalion with companies B, E and F and the 3rd Battalion with companies C, H and I. The 1st Battalion HQ and companies A,B and C are Stuarts with Shermans in the other six companies. The 2nd Armored Division has the 66th and 67th tank regiments. The 3rd Armored Division has the 32nd and 33rd tank regiments. Hope this helped. |
