Now that I have a few games of Lion Rampant under my belt, which I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed, a few rules questions have arisen: Slingers- are listed as an alternate missile troops (under the Archer entry), but the range listed for slings is 12 inches (page 18), which is significantly less than it is for bows. Should equipping your troops with slings be a reduction in cost by one point to compensate for the reduced range? Say at -1 point? Winners taking Courage Tests and fleeing off the table- We have noted a couple of instances where victorious foot troops (Yeomen and Fierce Foot) have inflicted a great result on the enemy, only to flee afterwards due to a bad dice roll for having suffered a few casualties. What we have seen is a unit suffers a single (or two) casualties in a combat and may already be down a couple of models from starting strength- to roll a 2,3, or 4 on the dice (Courage Test) only to retreat off the table. Was this mechanic intentional? What's even worse- we have seen the losers make their Courage Test and remain on the board after loosing several models… Don't get me wrong, I am really enjoying the game and think the rules are great- I am sure there will be more questions in the future. |

I suspect you would be better posting rules questions on the page for Lion Rampant on BoardGameGeek, as that is the forum the author seems to prefer to use for his rules. On a separate issue, I sent you an e-mail last week on your Historical Wargames Podcast e-mail address, but I haven't heard back from you so I'm not sure if you got it ? Mark |

Well how serious can someone be about their rules if they don't follow the posts on TMP? <wink> |

I guess the answer is to use bows, not slings. At first glance missile fire seems VERY effective in Lion Rampant. |

Although admittedly limited, my experience is that when it comes to Lion Rampant, you really can't count on anything doing what you want. Archers need a 6+ to shoot, which does allow for numerous instances when you won't shoot. Archers really do well when shooting at Armor 2 troop types. Against Armor 4, you are lucky to remove 1 model. I really like these rules… more games, more experience. |

Have tried posting my rules questions for the past few days on BGG, with no replies- even though I registered and attempted my post(s) twice. This is what could kill the game- lack of support. Why not come on TMP and answer some questions about the game? |
