I bought a set of Battlefield/Blitz US paratroopers and a set of Elhiem 20mm paras. In comparison the Blitz miniatures are much smaller than the Elhiem versions, and are meant for Battle of the Bulge it seems. FAA has 20mm paras, so I was thinking how they compare in size to Elhiem minis. Can I use them together? Should I just buy more Elhiem minis? I was thinking FAA/Elhiem mix of minis, FAA has tons of Germans too, so FAA would be the best bet for complete platoons of soldiers. |

Another comparison I'd like to know about is Warmodelling miniatures 20mm compared to Elhiem minis. How do they compare? |

I use Blitz and Elhiem US airborne together… plus Kellys Heroes ones too. I also added in TQD and some from a Polish company. People are different sizes, and as long as the weapons are similar sized, then I find when all painted and based the difference vanish. All my 20mm armies are made using a wide mix of makes. FAA will be similar in height to Battlefield/Blitz.

From memory I used Elhiem, Warmodelling and Kelly's heroes (available via Grubby's tanks) to make up a full platoon of paratroopers plus some support elements. They looked fine to me but I can't claim to be that fussy. I find things vary within ranges based on who the sculptor was. |

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll have to finish some models to see if the differences are that large. I might still order from FAA up to platoon strength. The germans will probably be a mix too. |

Here is a shot of Elheim (left) with an FAA Paratroop. They are about the same height but the Elheim is beefier. From a foot away they look the same, though. I just have one FAA and one Elheim platoon and keep them separate…

I like the Battlefield sculpts, but they're geared toward cold weather :( My Elhiem .30 cal machinegun broke, since the sculpt was so slight, it appeared to have been damaged during shipping or packaging. Now I'm looking at Peter Pigs 15mm platoon packs. I guess I'll have to decide at some point which way to go. My rulesets are Battlegroup and Face of Battle at the moment, and both support 15mm figures I think. Is painting smaller miniatures easier or harder in general? |

I would recommend tqd with elheim. FAA are rather short while elheim seem to be rather tall. The italeri US paratroopers would go well too. |

I'm probably going to go with Elhiem figures for the rest of my paras. Then, next I'd have to find similar sized germans in platoon strength. I don't think I'm going to use plastics for either force, so I've been looking at Warmodelling minis for germans. TQD might work too. It's a shame Elhiem germans are of limited selection. |

I love the FAA, I have two Rapid Fire Parachute Infantry regiments of them plus support so about 250- 300 figures, the Kelly's Heroes ones mix in well with FAA, probably the TDQ might mix with Elhiem better I have nearly 1 RF Infantry Bn so far of Elhiem now. |

How about using 20mm AB miniatures for Germans with my Elhiem paras? Do they look fine enough on the same table? I found I can use crouched BAR gunners from Battlefield with my Elhiem crouched riflemen. So that's 2 BAR gunners more for my platoon. Elhiem also does BAR gunners, so I'll be fine with the combined result. I'm using my Battlefield guys to practice painting for now :) When it comes to vehicles, what are the best quality, but affordable 20mm vehicle manufacturers (US vehicles)? I'm going for 21st Panzer against paras for my first games, so Ready to roll u304 halftracks and captured French tanks against US paratroopers. Should be fun. |
